What It Is

Hosted at Health Professions High School, our 'Mentoring Through Basketball' program is more than just a game—it's a community. For over three years, this free program has provided consistent support for youth and families. We teach the fundamentals of basketball and all the life skills that come with it, guided by positive mentors who can relate to the students and add to their development. Every session also includes a healthy, full-course meal, providing nourishment and a space for community.

What are the goals and objectives?

To teach and reinforce core basketball fundamentals (dribbling, shooting, passing, defense).
To improve players' physical fitness, agility, and coordination.
To develop an understanding of game strategy and teamwork.
To instill values of discipline, sportsmanship, and perseverance.
To provide a fun, energetic, and positive outlet for youth.

What activities are involved?

Sessions typically include a warm-up, skill-specific drills, team-based exercises, controlled scrimmages, and cool-down periods. Our experienced coaches provide constructive feedback and focus on positive reinforcement.
